Player Quick Start

Players do not need a heavy account system to begin.

The strongest player-facing legacy article was the Player Passport post. Its core point still holds: players need continuity, not credential sprawl.

What you need

  • A character, whether custom, premade, or imported from a prior campaign artifact.
  • A Player Passport if the campaign issues one for continuity and ownership.
  • A clear understanding that the shared battlemat reflects committed game state.

What a passport is

The passport is a bearer credential, not a public identity card. It exists to connect a player to their characters and campaign continuity without requiring usernames, passwords, and recovery flows.

Character sheets may be shared. Player Passports must not be.

If you are issued a passport, treat it like an object with authority. Store it securely. Do not post it, forward it casually, or bundle it with screenshots of your sheet.
