Combat
Combat should be clear, cinematic, and consistent.
The legacy doctrine documents were consistent here: maintain momentum, keep hidden information hidden, and track initiative, movement, conditions, and effects with enough precision that the fiction does not drift away from the board.
Combat principles
- Movement is explicit. Position changes belong in the scene state.
- Only one actor occupies a hex.
- Conditions and ongoing effects should remain visible and current.
- Rulings should preserve pace without undermining consistency.
Information boundaries
- Reveal only what characters can perceive or infer.
- Do not leak hidden notes, unrevealed module content, or future outcomes.
- Narrate only what is true after the state is committed.
The intended outcome is not just tactical correctness. It is player trust: the board, the narration, and the ruling model should all point to the same reality.
