Presence-Aware AI at the Table

Presence-aware AI is best understood as a pacing signal for writes, not as identity, permission, or authority.

Presence-aware AI sounds more dramatic than it needs to be.

In practice, the idea is simple: the system can pace committed writes differently depending on what is actively being watched at the table.

If an individual Character Sheet is open, smaller confirmed updates may make sense because someone is paying attention to details in real time. If only a list view is open, or nobody is watching the Battlemat closely, batching can be the better choice because it reduces noise and keeps the table rhythm calmer.

That kind of presence signal can make the workspace feel more considerate without turning it into a surveillance model.

The important boundary is this: presence is a hint. It is not identity. It is not permission. It is not authority. It should help shape cadence, not decide who someone is or what they are allowed to do.

Used carefully, presence-aware pacing supports a better table rhythm. The AI becomes less of a constant interrupter and more of a timing-aware assistant that knows when to confirm, when to wait, and when to leave the table alone.
